Important technical specifications of the long-awaited MG Cyberster have surfaced online thanks to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Two powertrain configurations will be offered for the Cyberster. Sitting at the base of the range will be a rear-wheel drive model that produces a respectable 310 hp. Those seeking a little more power will be able to order the Cyberster with all-wheel drive that combines a more powerful 335 hp rear electric motor with an electric motor at the front delivering an extra 201 hp. The result is a combined 536 hp and 535 lb-ft (727 Nm) of torque, figures reserved for supercars just a decade ago. The all-wheel drive model will hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in around 3 seconds.

It is understood that both variants will be driven by a 77 kWh battery pack as standard. This battery should give the electric sports car up to 360 miles (579 km) of range on the China light-duty vehicle test cycle which is known to be quite generous.

MG’s Cyberster To Be Offered In 310 HP And 536 HP Guises

In a straight line, the Cyberster should be a very solid performer. However, it is expected to tip the scales at 4,376 lbs (1,984 kg) so the Chinese car manufacturer will have to work tirelessly to ensure it can mask its heft and handle like a real sports car. Unfortunately, pricing details for the car are not yet known.

While we’re sure many will be hesitant to place an order for an electric sports car like this, MG has proven that it can build good EVs that are reasonably priced. Visually, it has nailed the Cyberster, creating a car with just the kind of dramatic and stylish appeal that a brand like MG needs to be taken seriously. The interior of the Cyberster is also impressively premium and rocks a stylish three-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters, a curved infotainment instrument cluster display, high-quality switchgear, and even Mercedes-Benz-inspired seat controls on the doors.
