The Smart #3 electric coupe SUV made its European debut at the IAA Mobility Show after being originally introduced at the Auto Shanghai last April.
Measuring 4,440 mm (173 inches) long, the Smart #3 is positioned in the compact SUV segment, right above the closely related Smart #1 which is 170 mm (6.7 inches) shorter. The EU-spec version of the coupe SUV looks identical to the Chinese sibling but adds the limited-production 25th Anniversary Edition.
The anniversary special is designed to celebrate 25 years since the debut of the original Smart. It is exclusively available in a white exterior with orange accents, black 19-inch alloy wheels, and special badges. Inside, it features generous equipment including a 12.8-inch infotainment, a 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch head-up display, black and white leather upholstery for the seats, a panoramic galaxy roof with integrated LEDs, and a 13-speaker audio system from Beats.

The Pro+, Premium, and 25th Anniversary trims of the Smart #3 come fitted with a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 268 hp (200 kW / 272 PS). However, the performance-oriented Brabus gets a dual motor setup producing a combined 422 hp (315 kW / 428 PS). The RWD models complete the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint in 5.8 seconds, with the AWD dropping to 3.7 seconds.
All variants of the Smart #3 are fitted with the same 66 kWh lithium nickel cobalt manganese battery, allowing a WLTP range between 415-455 km (258-283 miles) depending on the trim and supporting up to 150 kW/h of DC charging. Note that both the Smart #1 and #3 are based on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture which is also underpinning the Volvo EX30 and Zeekr X.
The Smart #3 will roll out in Germany at the end of 2023, with other European markets set to follow in early 2024. In Germany, pricing will range between €43,490-50,990 ($46,987-55,088) depending on the trim level. Smart has withdrawn from the US market so North Americans won’t get access to the new EV that could serve as a smaller but sexier alternative to the Tesla Model Y.
