The new 2024 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid is the brand’s most powerful SUV so it’s only fitting that it is being proudly showcased at the Munich Motor Show, where we’re sure many examples will be sold. It has the prowess to be the ultimate Autobahn missile, after all.

The magic begins under the skin. Providing the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid with most of its power is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that is good for 591 hp. While that is more than enough power for most SUV buyers, Porsche has supplemented it with a 174 hp electric motor that receives juice from a 25.9 kWh battery pack under the trunk. All up, the super SUV is good for 729 hp and 700 lb-ft (949 Nm), giving it more grunt than the Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga Speed, and even the V12-powered Ferrari Purosangue.

Porsche says the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid needs just 3.5 seconds to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) and that it can hit a 183 mph (295 km/h) top speed. While Porsche hasn’t said as such, we suspect there is an electronic limiter that caps the SUV to 183 mph as it has the power to go significantly faster than that.

It is not just the powertrain that makes this new version of the Cayenne special. Porsche has also fitted it with two-chamber, two-valve air suspension that allows the vehicle to adjust the compression and rebound settings. A torque vectoring system also comes standard while rear-axle steering can be added as an option.

The Turbo E-Hybrid benefits from all the same visual updates as the rest of the 2024 Porsche Cayenne family. As such, the front and rear fascias have been updated with different bumpers and LED lights.

Should there be any prospective Cayenne customers who want an SUV with lots of power but one that doesn’t pollute the environment, they’ll be pleased to know that an all-electric version is being readied for a 2026 launch.
