Before the EU-spec Jeep Gladiator bows out of production in the last quarter of 2023, the automaker presented the FarOut Final Edition which serves as a farewell for the diesel truck in the Old Continent.

Unlike the US-spec FarOut which is based on the Gladiator Rubicon, the European model with the same name is based on the Overland trim. Exterior differences are limited to the gloss black finish on the 18-inch granite crystal aluminum wheels, the tubular side steps by Mopar, a pair of black fender decals, and a “FarOut Edition” metallic plaque on the tailgate. As with the Overland trim, the truck gets LED lights, a three-piece body-colored hardtop, and a protective Spray-In Bedliner.

Jeep Gladiator FarOut Final Edition Waves Goodbye To Europe

Inside, the final edition comes equipped with premium McKinley leather upholstery for the heated seats, a 9-speaker Alpine audio system, and a wide range of ADAS. Of course, there are plenty of optional features including a lockable rear under-seat storage compartment, an off-road camera, a roll-up tonneau cover, an additional soft top, and a 400W inverter / 230V AC outlet combo.

Under the bonnet lies the 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine which is good for 260 hp (194 kW / 264 PS) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via the TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic and Jeep’s 4×4 Selec-Trac system with a two-speed transfer case and low-range gear ratio.

The Jeep Gladiator FarOut Final Edition is already available to order online, starting from €77,500 ($83,154) in Germany. While price comparisons between different regions are not relevant, the US-spec FarOut which was limited to 1,000 units started from $71,790.

Early Goodbyes, Focus On EVs

The Gladiator was launched in Europe in 2021 marking Jeep’s return to the pickup segment. This means that the model remained available for less than 3 years in the region. According to the company, the model’s “definitive end of sales” is a result of its “roadmap to going fully electric”. However, we are sure that the upcoming stricter emission regulations in the EU and the slow sales of the rugged pickup also played their role in this decision. It is no secret that the Gladiator is currently the only Jeep offering in Europe without an electrified option.

Jeep is now looking forward to 3 new EV launches by 2025, joining the Avenger small SUV which is already available in the Old Continent. Those will include the Recon and Wagoneer-S models, helping the brand move closer to its goal of an EV-only range in Europe by the end of 2030.
