Tesla has launched some odd products in the past but a new ‘Cyber Spoon’ had even the CEO himself in disbelief. As part of a promotion with McDonald’s in China, the company is selling each spoon for $4 during a limited run that will see no more than 50,000 units made. The real question is whether or not this is actually the dumbest product Tesla has ever made.
Noticed first by Sawyer Merritt on Twitter/X, the spoon is specifically linked to the McFlurry desert and is vaguely shaped like half of a Tesla Cybertruck. Elon Musk, who follows Merritt, shot back a simple comment about the finding that simply said “Fake news afaik.” “As far as I know” is a telling piece of the puzzle there.
While Musk seems to micro-manage some parts of production and business, apparently he was totally out of the loop on this one. In fact, Merritt replied to Musk that Tesla’s official Weibo account had also promoted the Cyber Spoon.

This is somehow only in the running as one of the strangest promotional products related directly to Tesla ever. Here in the USA, it’s launched a ‘flamethrower’, a wireless charging dock, and even a perfume.
Overseas, things have been a bit stranger as it’s launched an in-car karaoke machine and even a grabber for those who drive on the left side of the road and need to reach the far side of the car from their driver’s seat on the left.
Does this mark a change at Tesla where Elon Musk gives up a little more control to the rest of the team? That seems dubious. In fact, Musk could’ve responded as he did simply to drum up more attention. We’ve seen no reports of anyone who has actually acquired the spoon and as Tesla doesn’t have a PR team in the USA we can’t confirm whether or not it’s built to LEGO-accurate dimensions.
