German big luxury cars can be quite absurd, especially if you start looking at their most powerful versions, like this Mercedes-AMG S63 and this BMW M760Li.
It’s only natural to be mesmerized by both cars, especially after you take a look at their stats: the S63 takes everything that’s great about the S-Class and adds some AMG craziness into the mix, while the M760Li was the fastest-accelerating M car, at least up until the new M5 showed up.
Carwow compared the two luxury bahnstormers on the Bruntingthorpe proving ground in the UK with a drag race, a rolling race and a brake test from 70mph. Since this is UK, the S63 is rear-driven only, as Mercedes doesn’t offer an all-wheel drive in the country, leaving the BMW M760Li with a grip advantage, at least on the drag race.
The Mercedes-AMG S63 is powered by the company’s widely used twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, in this case offering 603 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. The BMW M760Li xDrive on the other hand is powered by a massive twin-turbo 6.6-liter V12 with 592 hp and 590 lb-ft.
Does the all-wheel drive BMW M760 wipe the floor with the rear-driven Mercedes-AMG S63? There’s only one way to find out.
