Bentley has announced its presence at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show with a trio of vehicles, including the new Bentayga V8.
Unveiled at the beginning of the year, the latest version of Bentley’s SUV shares its twin-turbo 4.0-liter engine with the Porsche Panamera Turbo.
The unit generates 550PS (542hp / 404kW) and 770Nm (568lb-ft) of torque and allows the luxury SUV to sprint from 0 to 100km/h (0-62mph) in just 4.5sec, up to a top speed of 290km/h (180mph). Bentley claims that the Bentayga V8 has a total range of 746 km (464 miles) and emits 260 g/km of CO2.
Its sporty nature is defined furthermore by the characteristic V8 sound, twin-quad tailpipes and optional carbon-ceramic brakes. The latter adds front discs with a 17.3-inch (440mm) diameter and 10-piston calipers up front and 14.6-inch (370mm) discs at the rear.
Redefining rear-seat comfort is the Bentley Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase, which joins the Bentayga V8 at the Chinese show. Described as “the most luxurious Bentley model ever”, it offers an extra 250mm (9.8in) of rear legroom, in addition to individual rear seats, glass-covered stowage area, pen and cup holders, handcrafted veneer, metal, glass and leather and so on.
Last, but certainly not least, is the third generation Continental GT. It is powered by a 635 PS (626 HP) twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 engine mated, for the first time, to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and uses the car’s 48-volt architecture for the active roll bars of the Dynamic Ride System, which, according to the company, ensure “a responsive ride and exceptional handling and refinement in all road conditions”.
