Ever since Tesla began selling cars, a popular safety feature found on much cheaper vehicles has been absent; blind-spot indicators. That has changed with the facelifted Model 3.

While most cars house these indicators in the mirrors, they have been incorporated into the upper speaker grille of the driver door on the Model 3. While the positioning is a little weird, it is still a convenient location for drivers and should be easy to use.

Although this is the first time that Tesla has incorporated blind-spot indicators like this, it is not the first time it has thought about blind spots. For many years, Tesla vehicles have used side cameras to display an image of what is next to the car when the turn signal is enabled, much like some Hyundai and Kia vehicles. Tesla vehicles also have a warning chime if you attempt to change lanes while there is a vehicle next to you.

The 2024 Tesla Model 3 Finally Gets Blind-Spot Indicators

A number of journalists and YouTubers have had the opportunity to drive the facelifted Model 3 over the past week or so. One video from a YouTuber by the name of Automobile Propre briefly shows the blind-spot indicator in action. A small orange light can be seen lighting up in the speaker grille when a vehicle passes him traveling in the opposite direction at the 9:15 mark of the video below.

Various other changes have been made to the 2024 Tesla Model 3 to make it feel a little more up-to-date. For example, the cabin comes standard with an ambient lighting system and Tesla has also added ventilated seats, an important feature for those that live in hot climates. It has made some changes that have upset some Tesla enthusiasts, such as removing the turn signal stalks and ditching the gear selector stalk, meaning the central touchscreen has to be used to select Drive, Reverse, or Park.
