The E39-generation BMW M5 has a timeless design and performance which is still invigorating to this day. Unfortunately, this M5 has undergone a host of modifications which significantly detract from its appeal and make us feel slightly sick inside.

The car, currently listed for sale on eBay in the UK, has been repainted white and is reportedly a genuine M5. As Car Throttle notes, however, the fact that it has a license plate starting with P means it may instead by a lesser E39 5-Series outfitted with the 394 hp 4.9-liter V8 engine of the M5. Whatever the case may be, there’s no denying that there is some serious grunt under the hood.

The Frankenstein of BMW‘s

From here, the curiosities begin. For some reason, the front bumper, air intakes, and wheel arches have been lifted directly off the current-generation M4 and transplanted onto the M5’s nose. It goes without saying that an M4 bumper with headlights and kidney grilles from an E39 M5 makes for an extremely strange look.

Sadly, things don’t stop here. Step around to the rear and you’ll find the rear bumper and quad tailpipes of the E92-generation M3.

We have absolutely no idea what would possess someone to create an M5 like this. Perhaps the front and rear bumpers were damaged and the owner had difficulty sourcing original parts? It’s possible but it seems unlikely as there are no shortages of E39 M5s around.

Whatever the case may be, a £10,000 ($14,000) asking price isn’t excessive and there’s probably somewhere out there that’ll actually like the new looks.
