David Brown Automotive has just unveiled its latest restomod classic Mini but the key thing differentiating this creation from all others is that it is the firm’s first all-electric vehicle. It is dubbed the Mini eMastered and combines spritely performance with the myriad of benefits of other provided by electric powertrains.
One of the things that makes the classic Mini beloved is its compact size and low overall weight. As such, David Brown Automotive wanted to ensure it didn’t disrupt the car’s handling balance with a massive battery pack weighing hundreds of pounds. Instead, it has fitted the Mini with a compact 18.8 kWh battery that drives an electric motor with 97 hp and 129 lb-ft (175 Nm) of torque. This is enough to propel the Mini eMastered to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 8.5 seconds and through to a 92 mph (148 km/h) top speed.
While the battery pack is small, the car can travel a useful 110 miles (177 km) on a single charge and is capable of 6.6 kW AC charging. It will take approximately 3 hours to recharge with a typical home wall box charging point. Impressively, the car weighs just 640 kg (1,410 lbs), the same as it did when fitted with its original combustion engine.

Beyond the powertrain, David Brown Automotive has given its Mini eMastered a host of other upgrades. For example, the entire exterior has been updated and the car sports a color-matched front grille and an orange roof. Of course, David Brown offers customers the chance to completely personalize their cars, meaning no two Mini eMastered models will be the same.
The interior has also been comprehensively re-imagined. For starters, the Mini rocks new seats adorned in brown leather. There is also a wooden-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, a Pioneer infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and plenty of bespoke aluminum switches and buttons.
