The 11th-gen Honda Accord debuted in North America in November 2022, followed by its debut in China, but it has yet to reach its home market in Japan. This changes next year as Honda announced the specs and availability of the hybrid-only JDM-spec Accord that’s set to reach dealers in spring 2024.
While the exterior of the model is virtually identical to the US-spec Accord with the exception of the slightly different color palette (5 shades) and 18-inch alloy wheels, there are some notable differences in the specifications and the interior.
Starting with the powertrain lineup, Japanese customers have the single e:HEV self-charging hybrid option combining a naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with dual electric motors and a CVT gearbox. Honda didn’t announce the output figures but a similar setup makes 181 hp (135 kW / 184 PS) and 315 Nm (232.3 lb-ft) of torque in the Civic e:HEV. Note that the Accord is also available in non-electrified petrol and plug-in hybrid forms in other markets.

Another interesting detail is the configurable circular dial on the center console that replaces the more traditional climate controls found on the North American model. The “Experience Selection Dial”, as Honda calls it, is already available in the Chinese-spec Accord and the Inspire twin, making it easier to operate the infotainment. By pressing the rotating dial, the user chooses whether it controls the audio, temperature, lighting, etc. At the same time, the integrated screen wears an analog clock face when it is not in use.
The 12.3-inch touchscreen for the “Google Built-in” infotainment is combined with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.5-inch head-up display. Safety equipment includes the latest Honda Sensing 360 ADAS suite which is available for the first time in Japan. The kit is expected to be upgraded in 2025 with even more advanced systems.
Last but not least, Honda offers two optional visual upgrade packages for the Accord – the Sportsline and the Touringline. Those add different kinds of bumper and side skirt extensions, decorative side gills, rear diffuser, and lip spoiler, either in black or in body color, in combination with a new set of black or diamond-cut 19-inch alloy wheels.
Reservations for the 2024 Honda Accord in Japan will commence in December 2023, with the first deliveries scheduled for spring 2024.
