Jaguar has become the latest automaker to announce plans to embrace the North American Charging Standard (NACS) and ink a deal with Tesla to gain access to their vast Supercharger network.

The automaker said all electric vehicles sold in North America – Canada, Mexico, and the United States – will have an NACS port from 2025. The latter date is important as Jaguar will transform into an all-electric luxury brand by 2025. As previously announced, the company is slated to have “uniquely expressive vehicles defined by pioneering technologies and visionary design.”

Besides the new charging port, Jaguar EV owners will gain access to more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers. I-Pace owners won’t be forgotten in the transition as Tesla will make a CCS to NACS adaptor for them.

Jaguar’s Director of Electrification Services, Mark Camilleri, said “Today’s announcement is an important step as we deliver an outstanding charging experience for our all-electric Jaguar clients.” He added, “Tesla has created a charging network” that delivers fast, reliable, and convenient charges, “and we are delighted to be working with them to provide access for Jaguar clients.”

At this point, NACS is truly becoming a North American standard as most automakers have announced plans to adopt it. Ford got the ball rolling and things picked up steam when GM followed suit. Since then, Acura, Honda, Mercedes, Fisker, Rivian, Nissan, Polestar, and Volvo have all decided to embrace NACS. They’re not the only ones as EVgo has announced plans to ramp up its share of NACS chargers, while Electrify America and Electrify Canada will add NACS connectors to their network by 2025.
