Rolls-Royce has put countless man-hours into the development of the Cullinan, which won’t only be a comfortable daily cruiser, but apparently, a potent off-roader, too.

In the latest round of testing, the team based in Goodwood took the SUV out for some desert driving, in Dubai. Under the close watch of hot climate test specialist Mashal Shaien, and documented by National Geographic, the Cullinan was punished on the sand dunes.

Before the grand unveiling scheduled for later this year, Rolls-Royce will drop more videos of their first-ever SUV. As it was already announced, the Cullinan will face the extreme cold in Northern Europe, and will also cross the Atlantic to the United States, for yet more testing and fine-tuning.

When it arrives in showrooms, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan will have to challenge the likes of the Bentley Bentayga. But it should have no problems doing so, with a design that’s inspired by the Phantom, and what is expected to be one of the most luxurious cabins on the market.

The automaker has stuffed the twin-turbo 6.75-liter V12 engine under the hood. Shared with the latest Phantom, it puts down 571PS (563hp / 400kW) and 900Nm (663lb-ft) of torque, and works together with an eight-speed automatic gearbox in the flagship sedan.
