Nissan is about to put the old expression, “Race on Sunday, sell on Monday,” to the test with the Frontier. With the help of driver Chris Forsberg, the pickup truck will be equipped with a range of NISMO Off Road parts, and will race in the NORRA 500 race in Baja California, Mexico, then go straight to show floor at SEMA.
The truck will benefit from the NISMO Off Road lift kit, high-performance suspension kit, lighting kit, and rock sliders. It will also get NISMO Axis Truck Beadlock 17-inch wheels wrapped in Yokohama Geolander M/T G003 tires, and a full Forsberg Racing graphics package.
“The Forsberg Racing team is poised for victory with this rugged machine, combining the incredible capability of the Nissan Frontier with the targeted enhancements of NISMO Off Road parts,” said Chris Forsberg. “There’s no better test for this purpose-built vehicle than the exhilarating NORRA 500.”

Despite the upgrades, the truck will be competing in the stock vehicle class at this year’s NORRA 500 event, which runs from October 19 to 22. The two-day race starts in Ensenada and runs to San Felipe, on the Sea of Cortez, before returning to finish on the beach in Ensenada.
Nissan says that this truck is just the latest chapter in its off-road racing story. In the 1980s, it raced and won at the Baja 1000, Mint 400, and Gold Coast 300 with the original Hardbody truck that it recently paid homage to with the Frontier Hardbody Edition.
After completing the race, neither the Forsberg Frontier Off-Road Race Truck, nor its namesake driver, Chris Forsberg, will have much time to rest. Both will be headed to Las Vegas to attend the SEMA show from October 31 to November 3. The truck will be in as-raced condition, but its driver may be allowed to shower.
In addition to this truck, Nissan says that it plans to bring a number of concept vehicles to SEMA this year. It will reveal more details about the collection closer to the show.
