A recall has been issued for 2023 GMC Acadia, 2024 Cadillac XT5, and 2024 Cadillac XT6 models in the United States. The issue relates to the windshield and owners of impacted vehicles should be alerted from November 27.

General Motors has revealed that the windshields of impacted vehicles may have been assembled without the proper urethane sealant that is required to bond it to the body. The automaker’s recall notice makes no mention of whether this means there is a risk the windshield could completely detach from the body, it does state that customers may notice excess wind noise while driving or a water leak from the windshield.

The carmaker says the issue can be traced back to the windshield assembly when the urethane pump hose used became disconnected and failed to properly dispense the adhesive required.

2020 gmc acadia 3 Recall Alert: 2023 GMC Acadia, 2024 Cadillac XT5, XT6 Windshields May Be Loose

Involved in the recall are 25 GMC Acadia models built on June 10, 2023, 8 Cadillac XT5s built on June 10, 2023, and 9 Cadillac XT6s that were manufactured between June 10, 2023 and June 12, 2023. GM is not aware of any injuries related to the fault but is aware of one field report.

The issue first came to the attention of GM on August 9 when a GM Brand Quality manager filed a report after a customer complained of a windshield leak on a 2023 GMC Acadia. GM quickly determined that the assembly plant built vehicles without the required urethane sealant during one shift on June 10.

A previous recall impacting GMC Acadia, Cadillac XT5, and Cadillac XT6 models came in September last year when it was determined that vehicles with the optional Surround Vision system may have a rear-view camera that could function intermittently or fail completely.
