The IM Motors LS6 brought to life through a partnership between SAIC, Alibaba, and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech in China has already proven to be a hit in the local market, securing more than 10,000 orders in the week since its unveiling.

As the name implies, the LS6 is a slightly smaller version of the LS7 unveiled last year, an SUV that looks like a knock-off Aston Martin DBX from certain angles. It is laden with technologies, offers solid performance, and has a very competitive starting price of just 229,900 yuan, the equivalent of $31,480.

Found on the lowest rung of the line-up is the entry-level LS6 with a 71 kWh battery pack and a rear-mounted electric motor with 314 hp and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque. This version is good for 560 km (348 miles) of range on the CLTC cycle. Individuals seeking slightly more power and range can opt for a 90 kWh version with 340 hp and the same 332 lb-ft (450 Nm). The range of this version has also been boosted to 680 km (423 miles).

Two performance-focused versions are also on offer. The first has a 100 kWh battery pack and a 515 hp electric motor at the rear axle. IM Motors says it can scamper to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.5 seconds and travel 760 km (472 miles) between charges. Topping out the LS6 range is an all-wheel drive version with the same 100 kWh battery pack and a pair of electric motors with 787 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm). This version is good for 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and can travel 702 km (436 miles) on a charge.

Car News China reports that some 25,000 refundable deposits were initially made for the EV and that of these, 10,000 have been transferred into non-refundable orders. Approximately 31% of all LS6 buyers have opted for the 787 hp, all-wheel drive variant that tops out at 291,900 yuan ($39,970). Helping to entice buyers is the fact that all LS6 models are available with a 12,000 yuan ($1,640) discount until November 12.

Found inside the cabin of the LS6 is a 26.3-inch display incorporating the digital instrument cluster and one of the two infotainment screens. Shoppers can also order the EV with a larger dashboard-width screen incorporating a 15.5-inch display for the passenger. IM Motors offers the LS6 with a traditional flat-bottomed steering wheel or a yoke.
