Although trailers make camping a lot more civilized , the majority of them still tend to look boring. Japan’s Kwork has partnered with Lixil, a Japanese home goods company, to create a trailer that looks like it belongs in Architectural Digest.
In fact, the Mio Space trailer is so stylish that Kwork suggests that while you aren’t camping, it can simply be used as an extension for your home. And you can kind of see why. From the outside, it has a simple but elegant shape.
Although it’s just a rectangle, it has rounded edges and minimalistic design that make it look cool despite its simplicity, a bit like a smartphone. Meanwhile, the big windows and the wooden paneling give it a modern appeal.

It’s inside that the design really comes together, though. Wooden slats along the walls give it a hip vibe, and appear to be functional places off of which to hang pieces of furniture. Kwork says that it will also be capable of keeping owners comfortable no matter the season.
If it seems a little empty inside, that’s not because the companies have forgotten that people need a place to sleep while they’re camping. Kwork calls it a flexible design ethos that allows owners to create the space that they need, whether that’s as a camping trailer or an extra room at home. Apart from a built-in along the forward-facing wall of the trailer, it seems that owners will have to furnish the Mio Space for themselves.
While I can see why some trailer buyers may prefer to find their own furniture for their trailer, it also sounds expensive. Lixil, which now makes more indoor-outdoor home goods, doubtless has a range of products to supply people who have the means to furnish their Mio Space.
Customers will be able to start pre-ordering the trailer in the summer of 2024. Unfortunately, the price has yet to be revealed, and sales will be limited to Japan.
