Subaru has introduced the 2024 BRZ, which features a handful of changes and a new tS variant.
Kicking things off is the entry-level BRZ Premium, which begins at $30,195. That’s an increase of $1,600 and that isn’t the only sizable change as the base model will now be offered exclusively with a six-speed manual. That’s a significant departure from last year, when the BRZ Premium could be equipped with a six-speed automatic for an additional $1,500.
Part of the price increase can be explained by the fact that Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology now comes standard on every BRZ including models equipped with manual transmissions. It provides adaptive cruise control, lane departure and sway warning, lead vehicle start alert, and a pre-collision braking system.
That appears to be the extent of the changes as buyers will find a familiar exterior with LED headlights and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, there’s a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch infotainment system. They’re joined by a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, power windows and locks, and black upholstery with red contrast stitching. The model also comes equipped with a Torsen limited-slip rear differential.
BRZ Limited Has Upscale Features And Available Automatic Transmission
Moving up the trim ladder is the BRZ Limited, which starts at $32,695. That’s an increase of $1,600 but at least the mid-level offering can be equipped with automatic and manual transmissions.
In terms of equipment, the BRZ Limited rides on larger 18-inch wheels that have a matte gray finish and are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 summer tires. They’re joined by heated power mirrors.
Moving inside, there are heated front seats with leather and Ultrasuede upholstery. Buyers will also find an upgraded audio system as well as additional safety features including Steering Responsive Headlights with High Beam Assist, Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Keep Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
BRZ tS Is A New Range-Topper With STI Tweaks
The all-new BRZ tS starts at $35,345 and features a lightly revised exterior with Crystal Black Silica accents as well as 18-inch wheels with a dark gray metallic finish.
More importantly, the car has a STI-tuned suspension with Hitachi dampers. It’s joined by a Brembo braking system with larger pads and rotors as well as gold calipers.
The interior largely carries over from the BRZ Limited, but there’s blue contrast stitching as well as blue leather accents on the seats. Buyers will also find Brin Naub upholstery as well as a red start button with an STI logo. However, customers won’t find an automatic transmission as the tS is manual-only.
All trims are powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 228 hp (170 kW / 231 PS) and 184 lb-ft (249 Nm) of torque. This should enable the rear-wheel drive coupe to return up to 21 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined.
