The Tesla Model S and Model X are now available in a new color and while that’s not particularly exciting news, it will no doubt please some customers and Tesla enthusiasts.
The new color is dubbed Stealth Grey and will be offered instead of Midnight Silver Metallic moving forward. This new shade is slightly darker than Midnight Silver Metallic and for the time being, will only be offered for the Model S and Model X in North America.
Interestingly, Stealth Grey is also available on the updated Model 3 in Asia for vehicles being built at the firm’s factory in Shanghai, China. It is not yet clear if the new Model 3, when it finally launches in North America, will also be offered in Stealth Grey or if it will have the outgoing Midnight Silver Metallic finish currently offered on Chinese-built Model Ys.

Whatever the case may be, Tesla Model S and Model X owners in North America can now order their new EV in either Solid Black, Pearl White Multi-Coat, Red Multi-Coat, Deep Blue Metallic, or Stealth Grey. Our favorites remain Red Multi-Coat and Deep Blue Metallic, but it is generally the simpler shades that are preferred by luxury buyers.
The addition of a new color isn’t the only change made to the Model S and Model X in recent months. At the start of September, Tesla announced that the divisive yoke for its two flagship models is now a $1,000 option. This comes despite the yoke originally being the only available steering wheel for the duo. Tesla had long defended its use of the yoke but at the start of this year, confirmed that a round wheel would become the standard while the yoke would be turned into an option, originally priced at $250.
