Ford has announced ‘The Return’ is now available on Amazon Prime. Designed to tell the story of the company’s triumphant return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the documentary provides a behind-the-scenes look at Ford’s attempt to recreate the success of its 1-2-3 win at Le Mans in 1966.

Set 50 years later, the film explores the development of both the GT race and road car. The company says the movie is packed with never-before-seen footage and provides enthusiasts with exclusive access to people who helped create the car.

The documentary is 1 hour and 18 minutes long and it includes an assortment of racing experts as well as world-class drivers. Ford family members are also prominently featured and they “link the race’s significance to Henry Ford launching the company on the track more than 100 years ago.”

The Return was directed by Erich Joiner, who said: “I was able to shoot things that very few people ever get to witness about building a world-class race car and program. And then putting this new car and team up against the best in the world at the Le Mans 24 Hours. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience I will never forget.”
