Three months ago, RM Sotheby’s announced that it would be auctioning off one of the two Lamborghini Countach models used in The Wolf of Wall Street. That car was used for some of the film’s glamour shots but was not the hero car that Leonardo DiCaprio crashed while recreating a scene of Jordan Belfort on quaaludes. That very car is now heading to auction.
The extensively damaged 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary is being auctioned off by Bonhams at its Abu Dhabi auction on November 25. This will be the first time the car has been offered through a public auction since the film, and is in the same condition it was at the conclusion of the Hollywood hit. It is expected to sell for between $1.5 million and $2 million.

Bonhams says this Countach was on screen for approximately 3 minutes and 11 seconds and was the exact car that DiCaprio crashed. Interestingly, director Martin Scorsese wasn’t satisfied with the damage done to the car during the stunts and had a flatbed truck hit it multiple times to inflict even more damage. The second Countach used in filming is being auctioned off in December and was actually just rented for the film and on screen for 16 seconds.
The winning bidder won’t just get the car itself but will also walk away with the custom that DiCaprio wore during the crash scenes, a director’s chair, and clapboard that’s been signed by DiCaprio, Scorsese, and Margot Robbie, two crew hoodies, two DVDs of the film, and letters of authenticity from the production company.
Lamborghini built just 658 examples of the Countach 25th Anniversary, and this car is believed to be one of just 12 delivered in the U.S. with a Bianco Polo paint finish and a matching white interior.
