Toyota is so proud of the IsoDynamic Performance seats of the 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro that it has set up a simulator at SEMA to showcase the transformative effects these seats have on comfort over difficult terrain.
The car manufacturer unveiled the Tacoma TRD Pro’s IsoDynamic Performance seats earlier this year. They are equipped with two air-over-oil shock absorbers designed to manage vertical and lateral seat travel and can be adjusted based on the weight of the occupant and their preferences. To give SEMA attendees the first chance to see these seats in action without having to actually go off-roading, one of them has been mounted to a six-degree-of-freedom simulator and gaming experience developed by Toyota Connected North America (TCNA).

This advanced simulator allows gamers to drive through a high-speed off-road course and the experience has been fine-tuned to match the data Toyota gathered during real-world testing of the seats at its proving grounds in Arizona.
“Our goal was to demonstrate the performance capabilities our R&D engineers built into the IsoDynamic Performance Seat, leveraging cutting-edge video game technologies,” design and innovation lead at TCNA Eric Bursch said. “Gamifying the experience allows us to show how the IsoDynamic Performance Seat performs on a simulated off-road course in a way that’s both fun and educational for those wanting to understand its benefits.”
TCNA’s technical executive producer Allen Danklefsen added that the simulator will also prove beneficial for prospective customers of the 2024 Tacoma who may not be able to test out the seats in the real world.
Toyota will start sales of the 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro in the spring of 2024. It is not yet clear if the seats will come as standard equipment or if they will be a pricey option.
