Finale Speed has unveiled its latest 1969 Chevrolet Camaro at the SEMA Show and while the firm’s other ’69 Camaros have been special, this one is made all the more impressive thanks to the tinted candy red carbon fiber exterior finish.
As it has done with its other Camaro projects, Finale Speed crafted a completely new body for the classic muscle car out of lightweight carbon fiber. These panels then had to be finely sanded and primed before a custom-mixed BASF Candy Red paint was sprayed on. Car manufacturers like Pagani and Koenigsegg helped popularize colored carbon fiber finishes and the aftermarket has now also perfected them.
This Camaro has much more going for it than a painted carbon fiber exterior. Gone is the standard powertrain and sitting in its place is an LT4 6.2-liter crate V8 with a modified supercharger and coupled to a Tremec T-56 six-speed manual transmission with a twin-disc clutch. The car packs 650 hp, all of which is sent to the wheels through a Ford 9-inch rear end and a limited-slip differential. Helping to ensure this engine can breathe is a stainless steel 2.5-inch exhaust with new headers and custom MagnaFlow mufflers.

Elsewhere, Finale Speed has fitted the Chevy with Forgeline wheels measuring 18×10 at the front and 18×12 at the rear while wrapped in Toyo R888R tires. The company hasn’t said how much the customized Camaro weighs but it’s no doubt very fast and necessitated the fitment of six-piston Wilwood brake calipers up front with 14-inch slotted, cross-drilled rotors and four-piston Wilwood calipers at the rear with 14-inch rotors. There are also oversized front and rear sway bars and Fox coilovers.
Plenty of work has been done to the car’s interior too. It sports a pair of new seats with four-point belts, an Alcantara-trimmed console, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a four-point rollbar, an Alcantara headliner, and a carbon fiber rear seat delete. There is also an Alpine head unit alongside Focal speakers and a Focal subwoofer.
