Pagani just revealed its latest creation and unsurprisingly, it’s a show-stopper. Called the Imola Roadster, the new hypercar is the convertible version of the Imola, limited to just eight examples and building on the legacy of some of its most high-performance vehicles.

The Imola coupe was first introduced in 2020, paying homage to the legendary Italian racetrack. Over the last three years, Pagani has been working to combine the track performance of that car, with the open-air experience and the sophisticated technology of the Huayra Roadster BC.

The result is an aggressive roadster whose Mercedes-AMG-sourced 6.0-liter V12 engine has been uprated to make 838 hp (625 kW/850 PS) and 811 lb-ft (1,100 Nm) of torque — more than either of the cars that inspired it. The V12 is paired with a Pagani-tuned 7-speed Xtrac sequential transmission, while the top speed is set at 217 mph (350 km/h).

As a result of the extra power, Pagani says it had to rework the body in order to manage greater cooling requirements. That included enlarging the front intakes and adding outlets for hot air. The latter were hidden along the body, in places like the wheel arch and the side of the bumper.

Not only are these subtle, but they also benefit aerodynamic performance. In particular, the wheel arch outlets help reduce pressure under the front end, increasing stability and sending air to the rear aero elements. Similarly, new taillights with vents extract heat from the rear wheel arches, cooling not only the brakes but also generating downforce over the wheels, for better grip.

Less subtle is the massive scoop that stands proud of the body over the seats. This feeds air to the engine and has been designed to work with the fin behind it to stabilize the vehicle at high speed.

Pagani says that every single line in the car has been designed with the goal of providing drivers with 1,378 lbs (600 kg) of downforce at 174 mph (280 km/h). Pagani claims that the Imola Roadster is capable of generating up to 2.2 g of lateral force, and 2.2 g of braking force.

While it was trying to add weight with the wind, it was removing it with advanced materials. A chassis made of Carbo-Titanium HP62-G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62, as well as Acquarello Light paint (that helps shed 11 lbs/5 kg) of weight, means that the Imola Roadster tips the scales at just 2,777 lbs (1,260 kg).

To take advantage of all that power, Pagani has added four highly sophisticated flaps to provide active aero assistance. Meanwhile, the intelligent suspension helps reduce dive, squat, and roll to deliver racecar-like handling performance.

Inside, the Imola Roadster seeks to delight drivers with Carbo-wood trim, finely embossed leather, and intricate details that show off the vehicle’s mechanical nature. It also comes with a seven-channel audio system with impressive speakers located right behind your head.

Pagani doesn’t say how much it will charge customers to build them an Imola Roadster, but you can bet it will be in the millions. However, limited to just eight examples, it’s unlikely to lose value (unless you crash it).
