Most of the classic Ford we’ve seen in recent years have been Mustangs with big engines and even more dramatic looks. This particular restomodded Ford is a bit different—it’s not a Mustang but a 1972 Maverick that has undergone a complete overhaul. It will be available for sale at the Mecum Auctions Kissimmee event, running from January 2 to 14
The unique Maverick is expected to sell for between $100,000 and $125,000 and if it runs as good as it looks, then it’s probably going to be worth every penny. Underpinning the car is a custom chassis complete with adjustable suspension and four-piston Wilwood brakes with drilled and slotted rotors at all four corners. Of course, it’s not the chassis, suspension, or braking components that are the highlight.

Making this Maverick stand out from any other we’ve seen before is a custom blue and gold paint scheme that makes a seriously bold statement. Components finished in black include the roof, pillars, and sides, whereas the hood, wheels, mirrors, trunklid, and rear fascia are primarily painted in gold. This color combo certainly won’t be to everyone’s taste but we’re quite fond of it, primarily because of how over-the-top it is. There’s plenty more to like about this Maverick, too.
For example, it has been outfitted with a 247 cubic-inch (5.7-liter) twin-turbocharged V8 coupled to a four-speed automatic transmission. The listing on Mecum doesn’t state how much power this engine has but we suspect it has more than enough grunt to outsprint some modern-day supercars.
The interior has also been thoroughly upgraded. Among the changes made include all-new tan and beige-colored leather across almost every single square inch of the cabin, including the seats, door panels, dashboard, transmission tunnel, and headliner. The Maverick also rocks custom gauges with white faces and a Vintage Air climate control system.
