The second-gen Panamera is undoubtedly much better looking than its predecessor. Instead of just a saloon, though, this time around Porsche went the extra mile and added a second version.
Thus, it created the Panamera Sport Turismo, a five-door estate shooting brake that manages to tick all the right boxes.
Doug DeMuro got his hands on one for his latest review. Immediately, he noticed that there aren’t a lot of differences between the way the regular sedan and wagon look. Still, when it comes to having a vehicle that’s more usable, the Sport Turismo gets the upper hand thanks to its lower load floor and marginally larger boot.
Unlike the sedan, which is sold as a four-seater, the Sport Turismo has a rear bench with adequate space for three passengers. Granted, it isn’t the most comfortable, but it is more than enough for small distances.
The rest of the interior is, unsurprisingly, identical to the regular Panamera. Power comes from a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that generates 550 hp and 567 lb-ft of torque, just like in the saloon, and Porsche claims the same 3.6-seconds 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) acceleration time.
Other high-performance wagons aren’t capable of hiding their weight, but Porsche’s managed to do it and the Sport Turismo feels similar to drive to the sedan.
All that performance and luxury come at a (very) high price. DeMuro claims the vehicle he tested cost $180,000, which is roughly $80,000 more than a Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon. Nevertheless, if can afford it, the Panamera Sport Turismo really is a sports car that also happens to be quite practical.
