To some car enthusiasts, the current trend of downsizing is a mixed bag. There are advantages to smaller, more modern engines, which we won’t get into right now, but the general consensus is that turbocharged V6 units are no match for a V8 when it comes to noise/soundtrack.
So, if you’re a sucker for crackles and bangs of the highest order, you might consider the Audi S5’s exhaust note a bit of a letdown.
This is where aftermarket specialists such as Armytrix come in, with their Valvetronic exhaust system with smartphone app integration. This means that you can basically dictate how loud you want your car to sound using nothing but your mobile device.
The tuner designed a stainless steel system specifically for the S5 (B9) model and its turbocharged 3.0-liter TFSI V6. Mods include the front Y pipe, mid pipe with resonator, Valvetronic mufflers and wireless remote control kits.
As you can see, or better yet hear, with the simple press of a button the S5 goes from sounding sporty to sounding more throaty, menacing and somewhat reminiscent of a V8.
With regards to overall performance, Armytrix didn’t do anything to increase power and torque output, which remain at 354 PS (349 HP) and 500 Nm (368 lb-ft). The 2018 S5 Coupe is capable of hitting 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.7 seconds, which makes it more than half a second quicker than its predecessor.
