Germany’s Autobahnen still have some ‘no speed limit’ sections, and are among the few places in the world where enthusiasts can legally max out their cars.
Doing it at night is riskier, though, but at the same time more rewarding, especially when the chosen weapon is the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS. In this case, Carfection took the sports car all the way up to 300 km/h (186 mph) once the road cleared, squeezing every drop of power out of the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six.
With enough space, Porsche claims that the 911 GT3 RS would have eventually maxed out at 312 km/h (193 mph). Naught to 100km/h (0-62mph) is completed in 3.2 seconds, and the track-focused 911, aided by its aerodynamic and mechanicals and the 520PS (512hp / 382kW) and 468Nm (346lb-ft) of torque produced by the powertrain, joined a very exclusive club by lapping the Nurburgring in less than 7 minutes.

To be more precise, it posted a 6:56.4 lap time in the hands of Porsche works driver Kevin Estre, becoming the third Porsche, after the 911 GT2 RS and 918 Spyder, to drop under the seven-minute mark.
As one would expect, this level performance comes at a very steep price: €195,137 in Germany and $187,500 in the United States. Then again, that’s some €90,000 and $105,000, respectively, less than the 911 GT2 RS, so one might argue that the entry price is relatively logical.
