Still not convinced about Jaguar’s decision to get into the crossover market? Well, the British automaker is doing very fine, thank you, as the F-Pace has quickly emerged as its best-selling model.
Of course, the all-electric I-Pace is currently the Jag SUV everyone is talking about, yet the company has just announced a series of enhancements to its first-ever high-rider.
Chief among them is the arrival of the new F-Pace SVR. The top performance model packs Jaguar’s 542 HP (550 PS) 5.0-liter supercharged V8 and it’ll run to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 4.1 seconds before topping out at 176 mph (283 km/h).
The SVR model isn’t the only change that Coventry has made to the F-Pace lineup, though. It has also introduced a new Adaptive Cruise Control system with Steering Assist, Lane Centering, and Stop & Go features to make the daily commute that much easier. There’s a new emergency-braking system as well, which can apply the brakes at speeds up to 160 km/h (99 mph).

A new 10-inch infotainment display now comes standard. There’s new slimline spots seats available. And there’s a frameless rearview mirror, illuminated treadplates, metal pedals, premium carpets, suede-like headliner, chrome seat switches, and carbon-fiber door trim, too. All gasoline versions get a new particulate filter. And some of them come with a larger 82-liter (21.6-gallon) fuel tank, up from 63 liters (16.6 gallons).
“The F-Pace has been critically acclaimed across the world and our performance SUV has more than 70 international awards to its name,” noted vehicle line director Nick Collins. “We have updated our best-selling SUV with improved safety technology, additional convenience features and enhanced interior comfort. All of these changes deliver the experience our customers expect from a Jaguar.”
The automaker is rolling out the updates first in the UK, where order books are already open. Prices start at £36,520 (up from £34,775), which works out to nearly $50k (instead of $47k) at current exchange rates. In the US, the 2018 F-Pace has carried a price of admission at $42,065. Expect that to jump closer to $45k when the 2019 model arrives there.
