Although Scout Motors doesn’t plan to start producing vehicles until 2026, this summer it will give us our first look at what it’s planning to make, according to a new teaser video published on the automaker’s official YouTube channel.

In an 82-second video titled “There is a Scout in All of Us,” the brand explains that scouts “shun comfortable, ignore uncertainty, laugh at difficult,” while also connecting us to the past and future, and the land. The formation of the brand’s identity is in full swing, then.

The most interesting part of the ad comes at the very end, though. Against an all black screen, the words “revealing summer 2024” can be seen. What, specifically, that means is not yet clear, but it seems likely that we will get a better look at its first vehicles.

Scout Motors To Reveal First Electric SUV This Summer

So far, we’ve only seen sketches of two EVs that the automaker plans to build, a boxy off-roader and a pickup that is closely related to it. We anticipate that these will compete with the likes of the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator. To help it match them on the trails, Scout is reportedly receiving development help from Magna, which also builds the Mercedes G-Class.

In addition to being comfortable off the road, the brand has promised that its vehicles will be all-electric, and will be based on a bespoke platform that is being designed specifically for the needs of a rugged SUV — rather than being adapted from the car-based MEB platform.

Despite the futuristic powertrains, the models may revive names from the past. Inspired by the International Harvester Scout, a Jeep competitor that lasted from the ’60s to the ’80s, the automaker spent 2023 trademarking names like Scout 80, Scout 800, Scout II, Terra, Traveler, and Super Scout, all of which were used by the original SUV.

It also trademarked names like Aristocraft, Baler, Forma, Harrow, Rallye, Scout Spirit, Sno-Star, Terrastar, Trailstar, and more. While it is not yet clear what it is planning for all of these names, we expect to learn more in the coming months.

Whatever they’re called, Scout’s vehicles will be manufactured in South Carolina, at a new plant that it is building from scratch, which will be up and running in 2026.
