We’re just one week into the new year and already we have our first crash involving a Ford Mustang. As far as Mustang crashes go, this one appears to have been particularly spectacular.

The crash occurred over the weekend in Indianapolis when the blacked-out Mustang ventured off the road and slammed into the side of a building. As fate would have it, the crash happened on Shelby Street, although the Mustang in question isn’t a Shelby model.

The Indianapolis Fire Department responded to the crash at 1:08 p.m. on Saturday and when they arrived on the scene, they found that the driver was still in the car. He was eventually able to free himself and was transported to a local hospital but fortunately, seems to have avoided any serious injuries.

No official cause for the rash has been given and local police continue to investigate. Regardless of what triggered the crash, we can see that the Ford first hit a curb on the sidewalk before ramming into a small grass embankment next to the building. It appears the hit with the embankment ripped off the rear bumper before the Mustang got airborne and slammed into the side of the building, which seems to be made from wood.

No photos have been shared online by the Indianapolis Fire Department that show the front of the car but we can see that it has caused significant damage to the building and the car’s owner will no doubt be left with a very hefty repair bill for both the building and the car. Even if they are insured, their insurance premiums will probably soar after a crash like this.
