Opinion seems to be split on the design of the new S650 Ford Mustang but these renderings show that with a little inspiration from the 1993 Foxbody model, it can be made to look particularly wonderful.

This creation is the work of Abimelec Design and for the most part, the exterior design of the S650 Mustang has been retained. However, the pony car has been equipped with the same silver wheels as a Foxbody Mustang Cobra, instantly giving the car a retro feel but without making it look dated.

The more significant changes made to the car have been done to the rear. Abimelec Design lifted the double-decker rear wing of the classic Mustang SVO and grafted it onto the new model. While the shape of the S650 Mustang is much different than the Foxbody, the double-decker wing works surprisingly well. Complementing the new decklid is a revised rear bumper. The car is also rocking a set of revised rocker panels.

The New Ford Mustang Looks Perfect With Some Foxbody Inspiration

We’d love to see Ford creating a variant of the S650 Mustang inspired by the Foxbody model. Unfortunately, this is quite unlikely, meaning it will be probably left up to an aftermarket tuner to make a Mustang like this a reality.

In December, details from the labor agreement between Ford and the United Auto Workers union allegedly revealed that production of the current S650 Mustang would end in 2028. However, Ford quickly hit back at these assertions, claiming that they are “not accurate.” While the arrival date of the ‘S750’ Mustang remains a mystery, the current thought is that it will be based on the Ford GE2.2 platform that will also be used by the second-generation Mustang Mach-E.
