New Ford Fiesta Active Launched In Europe Looking Rugged And Fun

Ford is launching the first model to ever wear the Active nameplate in Europe, with the model being of course the new Fiesta Active.

The new Ford Fiesta Active -which will be soon followed by the Ka+ Active and Focus Active– is the crossover version of the popular supermini model, combining rugged styling with a fun-to-drive character and a range of sophisticated technologies.

Compared to the regular Fiesta, the Fiesta Active sits 18mm higher from the ground and features wider tracks by 10mm for a more imposing stance. The front shock absorbers are optimized with a new hydraulic rebound stopper to smooth out bumps and other imperfections. The suspension also features model-specific knuckle geometry and bespoke settings for dampers and springs.

Other technical differences include new software for the electric power steering and different tuning for the electronic stability control system. The new Ford Fiesta Active features three driving modes: Normal, Eco, and Slippery. The latter adjusts the vehicle’s traction and stability control systems during low-grip conditions, such as snow and ice.

On the outside, the new Fiesta Active features dark cladding all around, new bumpers, bright scuff plates and a set of unique 17-inch alloy wheels available in ‘Rough Metal’ or ‘Absolute Black’.

Step inside and the interior reveals its satin aluminum detailing and sports seats that can optionally feature contrasting stitching, As with the regular Fiestas, the SYNC3 infotainment system works through an eight-inch touchscreen display, offering pretty much all the connectivity options available.

The engine range of the new Ford Fiesta Active kicks off with the 1.0-liter EcoBoost petrol engine that’s available with 85 PS, 100 PS, 125 PS and 140 PS (83hp-98hp-123hp-138hp). Customers looking for a diesel can opt for the 1.5-liter TDCi engine that’s available with 85 PS and 120 PS (83hp-118hp). All models offer a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. There’s no all-wheel drive option available.

The new Ford Fiesta Active joins the Fiesta Titanium, the Fiesta ST-Line and the Fiesta Vignale across Europe and will be available with three equipment levels.
