This year is gearing up to be a busy one for American Honda. The automaker plans to introduce a series of new products, including a smaller SUV model for Acura, along with fresh powertrain options for the Honda Civic and CR-V. They will also update existing models like the Acura MDX and RDX.
In order to get us excited about the coming year, Honda has shown us the first images of its upcoming 2025 Civic hybrid. The electrified powertrain is set to be made available for buyers of both the sedan and the hatchback.
Honda projects that once it is on sale, the Civic hybrid will make up about 40 percent of sales for the nameplate. While the automaker has not disclosed all the specifics about the powertrain, it has confirmed that, like the Accord and CR-V hybrids, as well as the European market Civic e:HEV, it will feature a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine combined with a two-motor hybrid system.

Along with the new powertrain addition, the photos provide a sneak peek at the styling updates that will be introduced across all Civics for the 2025 model year. Honda has also promised that the refreshed car will get updated and improved features.
Furthermore, 2024 will also kick off sales for the all-electric Prologue SUV. Honda intends to commence sales early this year, with an initial focus on ZEV states such as California, as well as states with a strong demand for EVs like Texas and Florida. A nationwide rollout will follow.
The brand also plans to unveil another new zero emissions vehicle, the hydrogen-powered-powered CR-V FCEV. Honda said that it will be North America’s first production vehicle to combine a plug-in feature alongside fuel cell technology.

Moving on to Acura, it will also kick off sales of its own zero-emissions vehicle, the closely-related all-electric ZDX SUV. Order books are set to open in February, and sales will be handled 100 percent online, through the brand’s new web based showroom.
New sub-compact Acura SUV
That won’t be the only SUV to join the brand’s range as the company has confirmed the introduction of a new, smaller sibling to the compact RDX and mid-size MDX. This sub-compact model will be “positioned at the gateway of the lineup alongside the Integra.” Acura didn’t share any additional details about the as-of-yet unnamed model, but it’s likely that it will be similar in size to Honda’s HR-V.
In addition, Acura plans to update its best-selling vehicle, the MDX. It will receive styling changes, a new Bang & Olufsen sound system, an integrated Google tech interface, and improved driver assistance systems. With the update, the MDX will transition from a touchpad to a touchscreen-only infotainment system. Acura also intends to refresh the RDX to improve its appeal and functionality.
American Honda hopes that these updates to its portfolio will attract a lot of attention, and it anticipates that its sales will grow by 10 to 15 percent in 2024. The new powertrain options will also help the automaker get closer to its goal of having a zero-emissions lineup by 2040.
“This year we will continue to capitalize on hybrid models and light trucks as we begin sales of our first high volume BEV models,” said Mamadou Diallo, American Honda’s senior VP of sales. “Along with a continued investment in our ICE products, we are anticipating increased annual sales for both Honda and Acura in 2024.”
