Volkswagen has unveiled two new Golf concepts which were created by apprentices for Wörthersee.
The first model is called the Golf GTI Next Level and it features a two-tone exterior with “contrasting foils” in an arrow-shaped pattern. The hatchback has also been equipped with a Volkswagen Accessories body kit, a Bilstein coilover suspension and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels from an Audi R8.
The unique styling continues in the cabin as the Wolfsburg team installed two-tone seats with black nappa leather and ice grey Alcantara upholstery. Drivers will also find a two-tone steering wheel, red contrast stitching and special trim.
The rear of the Golf is completely unique as the apprentices removed the rear seats and installed a premium audio system which features 3D printed enclosures. Besides the 2,480 watt audio system, the team added a retractable monitor which can be used to play video games.
Power is provided by a 2.0-liter petrol engine which has been equipped with forged pistons and an upgraded turbocharger. The model also has a new stainless steel sports exhaust system and a larger intercooler. Thanks to these modifications, the Golf GTI Next Level develops 411 PS (302 kW / 405 hp) and 511 Nm (376 lb-ft) of torque.
The second model is the Golf Variant TGI GMOTION which was created by the Saxony team that consists of apprentices from the Chemnitz, Dresden and Zwickau plants.
Featuring an assortment of matte and gloss colors, the GMOTION has an Alltrack exterior with a powerdome hood and 20-inch wheels. The model has also been equipped with a Thule roof box, a coilover suspension, upgraded brakes and a custom exhaust.
Volkswagen didn’t release many interior photos but the company says the car has sport seats, red contrast stitching and an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel. Other special touches include “animated” ambient lighting and a trunk-mounted folding seat which allows people to sit at a custom-made table.
A 1.5-liter engine resides under the hood and it produces 131 PS (96 kW / 129 hp). The engine is connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel drive system.
