Is a four-year-old Ferrari 488 Pista Spider worth as much as a three-year-old Ferrari SF90 Stradale? Well, at RM Sotheby’s Miami auction next month, we’re going to find out as the two cars cross the auction block.
Few would deny that the 488 Pista Spider is a special car. It served as the ultimate version of the 488 and thanks to a plethora of options, this example had an original MSRP of $567,557. The auction house expects it to sell for between $750,000 and $900,000, but we’re not convinced it’s worth that much.
Sure, the 488 Pista Spider is cool, but we’d argue the 458 Speciale Aperta is more special as it was the last naturally-aspirated V8 from Ferrari. While Ferrari no longer builds any mid-engined standalone V8 models, the 488 Pista Spider wasn’t even the last of those as it was replaced by the short-lived F8 Tributo and F8 Spider.

The exterior of the specific Pista Spider is finished in Rosso Corsa with NART Blue and White racing stripes. The supercar sits on gold-colored forged diamond-cut wheels and includes every possible carbon fiber option, including an $11,811 carbon fiber diffuser and a $9,956 carbon underdoor cover. Adding to the desirability of the car is the just 629 miles (1,012 km) shown on the odometer.
RM Sotheby’s will auction off a 2021 SF90 Stradale at the same event and it too is expected to sell for between $750,000 and $900,000. This model is also finished in Rosso Corsa but doesn’t feature any fancy stripes. However, it does have plenty of carbon fiber options and sits on the available carbon fiber wheels. The mileage is also low with the car having covered just 1,116 miles (1,796 km) over the past three years.
If you had up to $900,000 to spend on a used Ferrari, where would your money go?
