The Grand Tour’s latest special will be released imminently on Amazon Prime Video but just before that happens, a hilarious new snippet has been shared online showing that James May, Richard Hammond, and Jeremy Clarkson are still up to their same tricks.

The new special, titled ‘Sand Job,’ finds the trio in Mauritania while they follow in the footsteps of the Paris-Dakar rally. They will do so in three vehicles not particularly well suited to the deserts of the African nation, namely a Maserati GranCabrio, an Aston Martin DB9, and a Jaguar F-Type.

In this clip, Clarkson and Hammond play a little prank on May and while he is in what appears to be a library, his Maserati’s cabin is quickly filled with sand. When May discovers what has happened, both May and Clarkson immediately shirk responsibility, claiming that perhaps a dust storm was the cause or maybe instead of parking inspectors providing tickets in Mauritania, they instead fill offending vehicles with sand.

May isn’t one to let pranks like slide so we expect him to return the favor to his co-hosts in one way or another.

As you would imagine, the DB9, F-Type, and GranCabrio aren’t particularly well suited to driving through the deserts of Mauritania, so a host of modifications have been made to the trio. These include new wheels and tires, skid plates, mud flaps, and more. Even with these changes, there are probably lots of other cars the hosts would have preferred to drive through the desolate country, but where’s the fun in that, right?

Unfortunately, Sand Job will be the penultimate episode of The Grand Tour. The final episode was filmed in Zimbabwe and is expected to premiere later this year.
