In stock form, the Huracan is one of the fastest-accelerating production cars on the planet. Strap a supercharger onto the 5.2-liter V10, and you have the makings of a hypercar slayer.
In a bid to show just how capable supercharged Huracans can be, Famous Motorsports in the United States brought a pair of its vehicles to a half mile drag racing event. The duo were pitted against a rare Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir and performed valiantly, to say the least.
In one of the first runs, featuring a green Huracan going up against the Veyron, we can see the Italian supercar giving the 987 hp Veyron an excellent run for its money. However, the competition heated up when a blue Huracan was given a car length’s head start and lined up alongside the Bugatti.
Off the line, the two set off with minimal fuss thanks to their all-wheel drive systems. As the race continues, the cars go toe-to-toe and, at the end of it all, cross the finish line with speeds neck to neck: the Veyron was clocked at 172 mph (276 km/h), while the Huracan roared home at 171 mph (275 km/h).
Of course, supercharging a Huracan is much more affordable than picking up a Bugatti. On the other hand, those well-off to consider buying a Veyron don’t have to face such dilemmas that concern us mere mortals: if they want, they can buy the Bugatti and the Huracan… and whatever else they fancy, too.
