The fifth-generation (code-name C8) Audi A6 is looking to pick up right where its predecessor left off, which means it has some pretty large shoes to fill, as the old A6 proved to be very successful.

Then again, the all-new A6 has a lot of things going for it. It’s arguably more stylish and it’s loaded with Audi’s latest tech, making it a lot more capable than the model it replaces, especially when it comes to active safety.

A peak inside reveals three large displays. There’s a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 10.1-inch main infotainment display and, under it, an 8.6-inch display dedicated to the climate control system, as well as other convenience functions.

Looking at this Mythos Black Metallic model, a resident of the Audi Forum in Ingolstadt, we can see that it’s very well equipped both outside and in. The S-line bits suit it well, as do the 10-spoke alloys, although we would have gone a size bigger for a more imposing stance.

Being a 50 TDI quattro means it’s equipped with the 3.0-liter TDI V6 diesel that puts out 286 PS (282 HP) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque and is mated to an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox and Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system. The engine also features a mild-hybrid system, consisting of a belt-alternator starter and a lithium-ion battery, helping to reduce fuel consumption.

As for acceleration, it can take you from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.5 seconds, the same as the old (but less generously equipped) C7 A6 3.0 TDI, which had 272 PS (268 HP) and 580 Nm (427 lb-ft).
