Full-size GM SUV owners looking to go off-roading have a new option as PaxPower has announced Jackal SUV packages for the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, and Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV.
Starting with the suspension, the packages include new tubular control arms and 2.5-inch coilovers from “leading off-road racing brands like Fox Racing, Icon Vehicle Dynamics, and King Racing Shocks.” The company says the changes provide approximately 3 inches (76 mm) of lift up front as well as an extra inch (25 mm) out back. PaxPower added that’s enough room to fit 35-inch off-road tires.
On the performance front, models equipped with the 6.2-liter V8 engine can be outfitted with a Whipple supercharger. It increases the output from 420 hp (313 kW / 426 PS) and 460 lb-ft (623 Nm) of torque to 650 hp (485 kW / 660 PS) and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm). The company claimed that is the “same amount of power found in the Cadillac Escalade V,” although that particular model is actually rated at 682 hp (509 kW / 691 PS) and 653 lb-ft (884 Nm).
Regardless, PaxPower said the supercharger is accompanied by an engine control module recalibration to “manage the extra power, while still delivering stock-like driving characteristics.” The company also adds a Borla dual exhaust system with a “deep exhaust note.”
