There were a couple of things missing from the facelifted Puma lineup when Ford revealed it in February. One was the 197 hp (200 PS) turbocharged 1.5-liter triple previously available in the Puma ST, meaning the punchiest Puma is now a 168 hp (170 PS) 1.0-liter hybrid. And the other absentee was the long-awaited Puma EV.
Ford didn’t have a fully electric version of the Puma in the original pre-facelift lineup launched in Europe in 2019 but openly admitted that there’s one coming, something our previous spy shots had confirmed. And with the refreshed version of the crossover now revealed, it can only be a matter of weeks before the electric Puma gets its turn in the spotlight.
Our spy photo team has snapped the EV undergoing last-minute winter checks ahead of the launch, and we can see from the images that the most obvious of the mild tweaks applied to the combustion car – the new headlight graphics – have been carried over to the EV. The electric version also has a slightly different set of wheels, and a different nose section, including, curiously, license-plate holders with VW branding.

Though most of that nose is hidden by camouflage, we can make out the fine horizontal slats at the bottom of the bumper, and that the grille is blanked off because, being an EV, this prototype doesn’t have the same cooling requirements as an ICE Puma. One of the small design changes Ford made to the facelifted car was the relocation of the Ford badge from the filler panel between the grille and hood to the grille itself, and we’re sure the EV will get the same treatment.
It will also get the same interior upgrade, which means drivers sit facing a 12.8-inch digital instrument cluster borrowed from the Tourneo Courier and have a 12-inch touchscreen display running SYNC4 just an arm-stretch away. And that’s not all the electric Puma has in common with the boxy Tourneo Courier and its Transit Courier counterpart. All three are built on the same platform, meaning the electric Puma is likely to be powered by the same 134 hp (136 PS / 100 kW) powertrain as the EV vans.
