- Audi showcased the longer version of the Audi Q6, with an extra 4.1 inches from the standard model.
- The result is not only more legroom but also a bigger battery, promising 435 miles of range.
- Audi has also slightly reworked the exterior design and promises more tech inside.
Executive types in China like being driven around, putting a premium on rear-seat legroom. Audi has long catered to these desires with its range of lengthened L models, and the latest addition to the stable is the Q6L e-tron. But because it’s electric, the extra length offers more than just legroom.
Audi unveiled the Q6L e-tron at the Beijing Auto Show 2024, showing just the model’s exterior, which is 4.1 inches (105 mm) longer than the standard Q6 e-tron.

In addition to providing passengers with more legroom, the extra length also allowed Audi’s engineers to stuff more batteries under the crossover. The new Q6L gets 7 extra kWh of battery capacity, compared to the standard Q6 e-tron, for a total of 107 kWh.
That means that the Q6L e-tron (and the SQ6 e-tron) will be able to go more than 435 miles (700 km) per charge on China’s CLTC standard, up from 388 miles (625 km) for the shorter model. Thanks to its 800-volt technology, Audi’s latest EV will also be able to charge at rates of up to 270 kW.
Thanks to its fast-charging capabilities, the new Q6L e-tron can recover up to 162 miles (260 km) of range in just 10 minutes at a suitable charge station, and from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 25 minutes.
The batteries will drive a 342 hp (255 kW / 347 PS) motor in the rear-wheel drive model, or a pair of motors with a combined 463 hp (345 kW / 469 PS) in the twin-motor all-wheel-drive models.
More Than Just Long
Outside, Audi did more than just add 4 inches of bodywork to the Q6L e-tron. The model gets a new front fascia treatment with a gloss black finish for the “grille”, and paint-matched with the side air intakes to make it look wider. Audi is also promising exclusive paint colors for the model, including the Lilac Grey you see in these photos.
In addition, the digital OLED taillights on the Q6L e-tron will be able to communicate with other vehicles on the road. The “communication light” warns other drivers of accidents and breakdowns by displaying a static symbol.
The new Q6L e-tron will also get an updated interior, with Audi promising that the cabin will feature improved infotainment tech tailored for the Chinese market.
The German automaker has revealed that the Q6L e-tron will also feature a series of driver assistance features for the Chinese market. That includes the adaptive Driving Assistant Pro and Parking Assistant Pro powered by the onboard lidar, radar, ultrasonic sensors, and a set of cameras. The model will also feature V2X technology that will help inform drivers of accidents and other hazards around them.
Audi plans to show off the full, production-spec Q6L e-tron in Q4 of 2024, with deliveries set to start in 2025. The model will be the first PPE-based EV produced in China when it goes into production at Audi’s Changchun plant.
