The Big Apple just got a little scarier this week, after the driver of a Ford Taurus was filmed chasing down a shirtless pedestrian, plowing into waste bins, and driving onto the sidewalk in a wild road rage incident in Midtown Manhattan
Unfortunately, it is not yet clear what caused this frightening incident to kick off. Instagram videos of the altercation start with the white, third-generation Taurus perpendicular to traffic, and facing the sidewalk. The car backs up, then lurches forward, squealing its tires, and driving into some black garbage bins.

A shirtless pedestrian, who appears to be the subject of the Taurus driver’s anger, narrowly avoids being hit by the containers, which are located on 39th Street, according to the @whatisnewyork Instagram account. The sedan stops before it or the bins make contact with the storefronts on the other side of the sidewalk.
The shirtless pedestrian then walks away from the Ford, and towards a group of people watching the incident. The Taurus turns around to chase after the pedestrian, driving the wrong way down the street and up onto the sidewalk. That sends the gaggle of onlookers scattering as they attempt to get away from the car.
The man being targeted by the Ford continues past the witnesses and the Taurus follows, driving down a bike lane and, eventually, onto the sidewalk. After the car stops, the driver leaps out to confront the shirtless man, and a shouting match ensues.
Through the incident, one man can be heard yelling, “Call the cops,” as the Taurus driver appears to shout, “I’m an undercover! I’m undercover PD.”
Fortunately, no one in the video appears to suffer any injuries, though being chased down by a car is undoubtedly terrifying. While the Taurus never drives particularly quickly during the altercation, a sedan can be very dangerous to a pedestrian, even at low speeds.
