Mazda unveiled the all-new EZ-6 at Auto China last month, yet it remained tight-lipped about specific powertrain details. That’s changing today as China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has revealed the model will be offered with two different powertrains.

The first is a fully electric variant that has 255 hp (190 kW / 258 PS) and a top speed of 106 mph (170 km/h). The government was coy on additional information, but confirmed the model has a lithium iron phosphate battery.

Mazda has previously said the rear-wheel drive EV will have a CLTC range of approximately 373 miles (600 km). The car is made by Chongqing Changan Automobile, which isn’t surprising since it borrows heavily from the Deepal SL03 including all of its powertrain options.

Customers concerned about going the distance can get a (range-extended) hybrid variant, which has a 1.5-liter engine that produces 94 hp (70 kW / 95 PS). It’s joined by a lithium iron phosphate battery and a 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) electric motor.

While this particular variant also has a top speed of 106 mph (170 km/h), Mazda has said it should have a range in excess of 621 miles (1,000 km). Some reports have identified this version as a range-extended EV, but the automaker itself has said “two versions of the Mazda EZ-6 will be available, a battery electric vehicle (BEV) and a plug-in hybrid electrified vehicle (PHEV).”

The EZ-6 will be launched in China before the end of the year and the company has previously said the model has LED lighting units and a zero-gravity seat. They’ll be joined by a 14.6-inch infotainment system, a 64-color ambient lighting system, a 14-speaker Sony audio system, and a panoramic glass roof.
