The escapade unfolded in Gold Coast, Australia, on Sunday, May 12. The four suspects, aged 15-16, allegedly stole a black Porsche Macan and a gray Maserati Grecale from a property in Broadbeach Waters at 12.40 pm.

It didn’t take long for law enforcement to track down the vehicles, given that the teenage drivers were reportedly tearing down the M1 motorway at “extremely high-speeds.” Reports indicate that the luxury SUVs hit speeds exceeding 180 km/h (112 mph), weaving in and out of traffic and executing risky maneuvers as they recklessly crisscrossed the roadway multiple times.

In a bid to avoid a police blockade at a highway exit, the Maserati Grecale found itself lodged on a median strip by 3:30 pm. This enabled police officers to approach the vehicle and forcibly remove the occupants, leading to their arrest. While the extent of damage to the Italian SUV remains uncertain, it’s likely limited to a few underbody scratches, as it hadn’t been involved in another accident prior to its immobilization.

A police helicopter kept following the other two suspects who were going flat out in the Porsche Macan. Believing they had evaded capture, the teenagers eventually brought the SUV to a halt in a Gold Coast suburb known as Arundel. However, their respite was short-lived. Within moments of the Porsche coming to a full stop in an alley, a swarm of police cars descended, effectively blocking off any escape route and forcing the occupants to surrender.

Thankfully, their adventure ended without any injuries. As reported by 9News, the teens have been charged with a range of offenses. According to News.com.au the drivers were unlicensed, and one of them was found to be carrying a dangerous drug. Due to their young age, all four teenagers appeared at the Southport Children’s Court on Monday.
