• Burglars crashed a Chevrolet Camaro into a dealership in an attempt to steal a Dodge Challenger Hellcat.
  • Everything appeared to be going according to plan until the Camaro got stuck on the stairs of the dealership.
  • The two suspects then used keys in the dealership to steal another car that was sitting in the lot.

In the early hours of Monday morning, two suspects had their eye on a Cherry Red 2016 Dodge Challenger Hellcat at a Pennsylvania dealership. According to police, their plan was simple: use another muscle car to break in and then drive away with the pair. Evidently, they didn’t factor the breakover angle into the equation, which stymied the entire plot.

Video from inside Thornton Automotive in Dover, PA, shows the moment when the wannabe thieves break in. At first, it’s unclear how the door is broken, but a person dressed in black from head to toe walks in. He tries the door of the Hellcat, only to realize that it’s locked. Then, as he turns around, a white Camaro crashes through the door and nearly crushes him between the Hellcat and a golf cart.

The Camaro driver tries to back out of the hole but proves incapable. The muscle car is high-centered on some steps and it won’t be going anywhere quickly. At this stage, the suspects find a different set of keys and use them to drive away in another Dodge Challenger. Officers from the Northern York County Regional Police Department say that they’re unsure which direction the suspects went once gone from the dealer.

They also don’t have a great bead on exactly who these suspects are. As such, they’re hoping the public can help them. “If you can identify the suspect or have any information regarding this case, you are asked to contact the Northern York County Regional Police Department at 717.467.TELL (8355) or tips@nycrpd.org,” it says in a post about the incident.

The pair of suspects caused damage to the business, the Camaro, a golf cart, and the Hellcat in the process. It’s unclear how exactly they started the Chevrolet though it’s plausible that they used an OBDII device to start it. Reports don’t indicate the type of Challenger that they ended up stealing aside from that it wasn’t another Hellcat.
