One year ago, Suzuki Australia announced the release of 300 units of the Jimny Heritage special edition which sold out almost immediately. Now, the company is replicating this success with the five-door Jimny XL, featuring similar decals and a limited production run of 500 units.
The aim of the special edition is to commemorate the “vibrant” history of the nameplate from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, which is why Suzuki refers to the Jimny Heritage as a “time machine.” The standout features include retro-flavored red and orange decals on the profile and rear, along with the classic rhino emblem and red mud flaps.

Buyers can select from a range of exterior shades including White, Chiffon Ivory, Bluish Black Pearl, Jungle Green, or Granite Grey Metallic. Suzuki has also included a Jimny Heritage cargo tray, making use of the larger boot space offered by the long-wheelbase XL bodystyle.
The Heritage edition shares the same mechanical specifications as the standard Suzuki Jimny XL. This includes the naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, delivering 101 horsepower (75 kW / 102 PS) and 96 lb-ft (130 Nm) of torque.
While the Jimny offers the option of an automatic gearbox, the Heritage edition is exclusively available with the five-speed manual transmission, distributing power to all four wheels through the AllGrip Pro 4WD system.
Standard equipment includes a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, along with a reversing camera and rear parking sensors. However, the ADAS package is limited to basic features such as AEB and lane departure warning, as the Adaptive Cruise Control is exclusive to automatic Jimnys.
The Suzuki Jimny XL Heritage starts at AU$36,490 (approximately US$24,300 at current exchange rates) before on-road costs. This translates to an additional cost of AU$1,500 (US$1,000) compared to the standard Jimny XL, accounting for the exclusive livery and limited availability status.
With its three-door counterpart selling out in just two days, Suzuki is asking those interested in the five-door Jimny Heritage to act quickly and fill out the form on its official website to secure a chance to own one of the 500 units.
While the Suzuki Jimny XL (five-door) made its debut in early 2023, the three-door version has been available since 2018, signaling that a mid-lifecycle update is on the horizon. The popular off-roader is expected to undergo a subtle facelift in 2024, along with the introduction of electrified powertrain options, including an EV tailored for European markets.
