If you’re looking to step up your overlanding game, look no further as Krug Expedition has unveiled the Bedrock XT2. It’s an extreme 6×4 RV based on the Ford F-550.
However, this isn’t just your typical F-550 as the company tapped Arctic Trucks to build a custom AT44 XT2. Krug didn’t say much about the modifications, but noted the firm re-engineered the “body and frame to minimize suspension lift, which helps to retain near-stock suspension geometry and ultra-low center mass for stability.”

More notably, the truck has been equipped with a third axle. While it apparently isn’t powered, Krug said the axle decreases ground pressure by upwards of 25%. The company also noted the axle has hydraulic disc brakes for improved control and reduced stopping distances.
Other highlights include an eight-link rear air suspension, limited slip differentials, and 20-inch tires wrapped in massive 43-inch Continental tires. Speaking of the latter, the truck has a semi-automatic tire inflation system as well as an optional central tire inflation system.
Perhaps one of the most interesting features is the ability to “decouple” the truck from the living module. Krug didn’t go into many specifics, but said this “ensures that the [living] module is not damaged when off-road driving results in twisting, heavy loads being placed on the chassis frame.”
That’s a good thing as the living module is a home away from home. It features a “modern, functional aesthetic” as well as a small kitchen and bath. The latter houses a toilet and shower, which are supplied by a 118 gallon (447 liter) tank.
Buyers will also find a sleeping area with a king-size bed as well as a dinette that can transform into an additional sleeping space. Other highlights include a 32-inch Smart TV in the dinette area, a 24-inch Smart TV in the cabover section, preparation for Starlink internet, and a Truma Combi diesel-powered heating system. The model also has a 1450W solar panel array and a 23 kWh battery bank for extended stays in the great outdoors.
While the basic Bedrock XT2 is impressive, Krug noted there are “endless possibilities for customization.” The company also mentioned options such as air conditioning and an outdoor kitchen that is integrated into underfloor storage boxes.
Pricing starts at $690,000 and the model measures 263 inches (6,680 mm) long with a wheelbase that spans 176 inches (4,470 mm).
Krug Expedition CEO Slawa Knorr remarked, “The Bedrock XT2 is the result of years of extensive testing and customer feedback, resulting in our most capable vehicle ever.” Knorr added, “In recent years, we’ve noticed major demand from the U.S. marketplace in our vehicles. The Bedrock XT2 gives us a perfect opportunity to enter this market with a vehicle capable of transforming modern expedition travel from a 360-degree view.”
