Stellantis is gearing up to expand its pickup truck lineup in South America with the introduction of the new Ram 1200. Now, ahead of its official debut, it appears that leaked photos and details of the truck have surfaced online, revealing its design and pricing specifics in Mexico.

The Ram 1200 is a sister model to the Fiat Titano and Peugeot Landtrek midsize trucks, all of which share their ladder frame underpinnings with the Chinese Kaicene F70 and Changan  pickups, setting them apart from the smaller unibody Ram Rampage.

While we cannot confirm the authenticity of these images that were shared to us by Auto Cosmos, they depict the complete lineup of the Ram 1200, showcasing both single-cab and double-cab variants. The bodywork seems identical to the Fiat and Peugeot iterations, save for the Ram-specific grille. Notably, Tradesman trims sport unpainted plastic bumpers, while Bighorn and Laramie models boast body-colored bumpers adorned with LED DRLs and chrome-finished grilles.

Dimensions and Powertrains

Although official data regarding the dimensions of the Ram 1200 is not available, it’s expected to closely resemble the specifications of the Fiat Titano, which measures 5,331 mm (209.9 inches) in length in the double-cab configuration. As such, it’s anticipated to be comparable in size to popular models like the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger.

All versions of the Ram 1200 will feature a turbocharged 2.4-liter gasoline engine producing 207 hp (154 kW / 210 PS) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. The four-cylinder unit is sourced from the Peugeot Landtrek and can be combined with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Power is directed to the rear wheels, except for the range-topping Ram 1200 Laramie, which boasts a 4WD system.

According to Auto Cosmos, the Ram 1200 will be imported from China, diverging from the manufacturing location of the closely related Fiat Titano, which is produced in Uruguay. The entry-level Tradesman Regular Cab trim is purported to offer a loading capacity of 1,200 kg (2,645 pounds) and a towing capacity of 3,000 kg (6,614 pounds).

Pricing in Mexico ranges from MX$ 444,900 (US$ 26,729) for the bare-bones Tradesman and climbs to MX$ 668,900 (US$ 40,206) for the high-spec Laramie. Sales are expected to start in June, with local distributor Mirador Automotriz having already shared the leaked photos on social media.

The new Ram 1200 will compete against popular rivals such as the Toyota Hilux, Chevrolet S10 Max, and Nissan Frontier. Given its focus on the South American market, similar to other region-specific models, we anticipate it won’t be available for sale outside of South America.
