An Air Force captain and Tesla enthusiast has landed in hot water after his video, showcasing him steering with just his pinky finger, went viral. However, the issue isn’t his pinky prowess, but rather his heavy right foot.

He filmed himself speeding with his Cybertruck on a residential street in Las Vegas, clocking in at 83 mph (134 km/h) in a 35 mph (56 km/h) zone. This incident has triggered an ongoing investigation by the U.S. Air Force.

The viral video was first shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user Matt Wallace with the description: “Cybertruck makes a U-Turn using only my pinky. Check mate.” The speedometer on the truck’s central screen suggests the driver was going 48 mph (77 km/h) over the speed limit in the area. Following backlash from internet users, the post was taken down, but the clip was subsequently re-uploaded on Reddit and other social media channels.

Before deleting the video and making his X account private, Wallace allegedly responded to critics with, “Also you notice there’s not a single car or a single pedestrian on the road? Ya think maybe I was smart enough to reach out to my cop buddies and let em know I was conducting a road test and they have cordoned off the area for me? Nice try buttercup.”

As reported by 8 News Now, Captain Matthew Wallace is stationed at the Creech Air Force Base in Nevada. Major Joost Verduyn, a spokesperson for the Fifteenth Air Force, confirmed that the captain’s command is aware of the viral video. Additionally, U.S. Air Force officials told the news agency that the incident is currently under investigation.

A spokesperson from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said that officers were “unable to cite the driver for speeding based on this specific video”. However, he added that the “alleged crime and what the video may show” are factors in the ongoing investigation. As for Wallace’s claims, the police department is unaware of any road closures in this area.

A quick online search shows that Matt Wallace apparently has a YouTube channel, with most of the videos being focused on Tesla products. The Cybertruck has been the star of Wallace’s channel since its delivery 3 months ago, appearing in several videos.
